Knowing Which Way To Go Saves Time and Money

This brochure highlights the services available through ValuTrac, and your responsibilities under hospital utilization review. Please read this information carefully to ensure receiving all the medical benefits you have coming to you.

Choosing health care used to be pretty simple. When you were sick, you went to the family doctor. If you were seriously ill or injured, you went to the hospital.

Today there are all kinds of medical specialists, and more places to get health care services than ever before - walk-in medical centers, outpatient surgical centers, rehabilitative facilities, to name a few. Many of these options are more convenient and less costly than traditional hospitals. And even when a hospitalization is necessary, medical advances often allow for much shorter hospital stays.

It's a good thing, too, since hospital charges still make up the biggest share of health care costs - costs that affect us all. Unfortunately, not everyone is aware of all the options available;

that some types of surgery can be performed safely outside the hospital, or that major illnesses can be treated at home with special services. That's why your employer has included a health care management program in your company medical plan. The program is called ValuTrac and it's designed to help you

  • find appropriate medical services through CareCall
  • avoid unnecessary or lengthy hospital stays through utilization review
  • obtain special services for major illnesses or injuries through medical case management.

… all of which can save you time, money and worry.
